New Ducati is the Pride of Bologna

Panigale Dispenses with Convention

Breaking with long-standing Ducati tradition the new 1199 Panigale has a monocoque frame and... a name! Unveiled at the EICMA International Motorcycle Show in Milano last month, the first example in America will be touring the 2011-2012 International Motorcycle Show circuit.

The specs paint a pretty impressive picture. With a dry weight of only 361 pounds and 195 horsepower the power-to-weight ratio approaches NASA proportions. Available Spring 2012 in three versions ranging in price from $18k to $28k.

Brad caught up with Jeff Brooks from Ducati North America at the Dallas show and asked him to explain some of the finer points of this very special new Ducati...

Oh, and just in case you're wondering: Borgo Panigale is the district in the city of Bologna, Italy where the Ducati factory is located. So the naming of the bike (as opposed to Ducati's usual numeric reference) is sort of a "hometown proud" type of thing.

Italian style.

Getting just like the automotive manufactures. Don't do any maintenance on your machine unless you have several degrees in computer programing and a good friend with outstanding mechanical skill!
Why can't we just have a motorcycle that the owner can maintain himself that has good performance?
I'll pass.
